What is the Committee on the Rights of the Child? 

The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) was adopted by the General Assembly on November 20, 1989, and entered into force on September 20, 1990.  Article 43 provided for the creation of the Committee on the Rights of the Child.  

The Committee on the Rights of the Child (hereinafter the Committee) is the body responsible for watching over the compliance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). 

The mandate of the Committee is to watch over and monitor any measure adopted for the enforcement of the provisions and principles set forth in the Convention, as well as to examine the progress achieved by the State Parties for the fulfillment of their related obligations.
