III World Congress
The III World Congress against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 25 and 28 November this year.
This Congress is part of a process of social mobilization that the international community carries out more than a decade ago. In this process, are to highlight the two World Congresses that took place previously. The First World Congress against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children was held in 1996 in Stockholm, Sweden, where 122 countries that were present adopted the Declaration and Plan of Action against Sexual Exploitation.
The Second Congress was in Yokohama, Japan in 2001, where they renewed the commitment made before through the adoption of the Yokohama Global Commitment. Prior to the Second Congress, six preparatory meetings were held in Bangkok (Thailand), Dhaka (Bangladesh), in Rabat (Morocco), in Montevideo (Uruguay), Budapest (Hungary) and in Philadelphia (USA). The IIN participated actively at the meeting in Montevideo.
The Organizing Committee of the III World Congress against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents, invited the IIN to contribute to the preparatory process indicating an international expert to participate in the Reference Group, which advises the Congress.
Norberto Liwski, IIN Director of Areas, will participate in this group as a regional expert for Latin-America. This group will meet in the city of Florence in late April to assist in the processes of the Congress.
