Mrs. Carmen Lomellin, Executive Secretary of the Permanent Secretariat of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) of the Organization of American States (OAS) and Mrs. Melissa Kopolow, Alternate Delegate of the United States of America to the Directing Council of the IIN visited the IIN’s headquarters.

During two days of work programmatic aspects were analyzed aimed to deepen and extend the mechanisms of coordination and cooperation between the Inter-American Children’s Institute and the Inter-American Commission of Women. Also, with the Alternate Delegate of the United States of America, Mrs. Melissa Kopolow cooperation initiatives were renewed within the framework of the IIN’s Action Plan with particular emphasis on the Program for Prevention and Eradication of Commercial Sexual Exploitation, Smuggling and Trafficking of Children and Adolescents adopted at the 82rd Regular Meeting of the Directing Council of the IIN - CD / Res. 10 (82-R/07),  where the implementation of an Inter-American Observatory is emphasized. It also was set the priority for such assistance in countries of the Caribbean region, promoted for this purpose, the development of various activities.

The meetings proceeded in an atmosphere of respectful exchange and constructive consensus.
