Reports to the Committee

In accordance with article 44 of the CRC, the State Parties undertake to submit periodical reports to the Committee on the measures adopted in order to enforce the rights provided for in the CRC, as well as on the progress achieved on the enjoyment of such rights.

The first report should be submitted within two years as from the date of enforcement of the CRC in each State Party, and every five years from then on.

The reports should state any existing circumstances and difficulties affecting the compliance with the obligations provided for in the CRC. Likewise, they should contain adequate information for the Committee to reach a thorough understanding of the level of enforcement of the Convention in the relevant country. Those State Parties that have already submitted a full initial report to the Committee, are not required to reiterate the previously presented basic information.

The Committee also collects information in writing from other sources, such as NGOs and inter-governmental organizations.

State Parties are expected to widely disseminate their reports to the public in their respective countries.
