The
General Assembly of the OAS, by resolution AG/RES 1625 (XXIX-0/99)
entrusted the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) with the
development of an Inter-American Program for the Promotion of the Human
Rights of Women and Gender Equity and Equality. This program establishes
in item 2.1.3. the measures to be developed by the General Secretariat of
the OAS. They are: "To adopt, in coordination with the CIM, the
necessary measures for the gender perspective to be incorporated into each
and every one of their organizations and into the development of all their
programs. Also to promote the incorporation of that perspective in the
organizations of the inter-American system and in all their works." The
IIN, sensitive to the topic of equity and equality, has begun to work into
integrating the approach to rights of children and adolescents with the
perspective of gender equality. For
this purpose, the IIN has been considering a series of measures to be
developed progressively in order to align the international norms to that
perspective and begin the work of training planners and people responsible
for children programs in this approach. Technical
