GAME ON CHILDREN RIGHTS |
 |
As
part of its Inter-American Child and Family
Information Program, the Inter-American Children's
Institute has developed an interactive 2-D video game. The
objective is to allow school-age children to learn
about their rights while playing on the computer. The
video game is called “Adam,” in honor of the
Polish judge who, as Chairman of the UN Human Rights
Committee’s Working Group, wrote and presented the
first draft of the Convention on the Rights of the
Child in l982. After almost a decade of negotiations,
the Convention was approved and entered into force as
an International Convention. The video game is available at all Focal Centers of the RIIN Network.
It is not authorized for sale, although it may be
copied. Due to its size and the quality of its
graphics, the game will be distributed in CD-ROM
format only.
