The IIN is as Specialized Organization of the Organization of American States (OAS) in childhood and adolescence, which assists the States in the development of public policies to be taken for the benefit of children and adolescents, contributing in the field of their design and implementation in the perspective of the promotion, protection and full respect of the rights of children and adolescents in the region. Special assistance is aimed at the needs of the Member States of the Inter-American System and at the particularities of the regional groups. Also concludes strategic alliances with other regional actors.
The IIN is an organization searching for consensus and commitments of governments. It is proposed to be an instance of specialized excellence, articulator within the Inter-American System and technical referent at regional level in the field of childhood and adolescence, maintaining an active dialogue with civil society organizations.
Eighty five years from its foundation and conscious of the need to constantly review and adapt its approaches to the changing reality of the continent, the IIN is proposed to continue working in the development of regional strategies that strengthen to generate and exchange experiences that promote a better quality of life of children and adolescents.
