AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE NATIONAL OFFICE OF THE OAS IN MEXICO AND THE INTER-AMERICAN CHILDREN’S INSTITUTE

Español

CONSIDERING THAT:

In September 2001 the General Assembly of the Organization of American States approved the ‘Inter-American Democratic Chart’, in which Article 1 states that ‘the peoples of America have a right to democracy and their governments have an obligation to promote and defend it…’

One of the functions of the Offices of the OAS’ General Secretariat acting in the States that are members of the OAS is that of promoting in each country the issues that are a priority on the Organization’s agenda.

The Inter-American Children’s Institute –hereinafter named IIN–, together with the Unit for the Promotion of Democracy –hereinafter named UPD–, has developed a promotional video lasting approximately 30 seconds, which has the purpose of diffusing the information contained in the Inter-American Democratic Chart in order to ensure compliance with it.

The Parties agree as follows:

1.         The IIN will provide the National Office of the OAS in Mexico with one version in Betacam format, one in VHS format, and one in DVD, in the standard corresponding to the country.

2.         The OAS’ National Office commits itself to taking the necessary steps in order to enable this video to be broadcast through the media, on cable and satellite television, in the Republic of Mexico, and shall inform the IIN and the UPD about these procedures.

This Agreement is signed by Director of the National Office of the OAS in Mexico Edith Márquez Rodríguez, and by Director General of the IIN Alejandro Bonasso, in Mexico City, on the 31st day of March of the year 2004.
